| Courage: Ministry to Persons with Same-Sex Attraction
In the Archdiocese, we are called to minister to all of God’s children: this includes those who experience the challenge of a sexual orientation other than heterosexual.
The Church has consistently pronounced what our Lord has said, “You are to love in the way I have loved you.” Thus love and friendship are extended to everyone as we strive to follow the truth of the whole Gospel and teachings of the Church. For we are brothers and sisters in Christ our Lord. We are a Christian family and community, his Church. As his Church, we call to mind what he has proclaimed: “Come to me all who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy and my burden light.”
Thus we seek to assist those who struggle with same sex attraction, so that they may discover God’s presence in their lives, follow the commandments, and help them realize their potential within the larger Christian community.
In so doing, the Archdiocese of Miami supports the national program of Courage ministry. This ministry aims to support those with same-sex attraction and who desire to live a chaste life in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Respect Life is a ministry of the Archdiocese of Miami committed to respond to all issues in respect to the dignity of each person. We seek to be a support to all, but in a special way, to our brothers and sisters who are most defenseless and most vulnerable: the unborn, the elderly, the incurably ill, the marginalized, the children and the youth.
We help women in crisis pregnancies, furnishing them with real alternatives to abortion. For more information or if you know of someone who is pregnant and needs help or is considering abortion, go to http://www.pregnancyhelp.me/
We also have Project Rachel, http://hopeafterabortion.com/, a program of reconciliation and counseling for women who have had an abortion. |Natural Family Planning|
Many Catholics do not know that there IS an alternative to contraceptives that is fully in keeping with the teaching of the Church. It is Natural Family Planning. This is NOT the old and unscientific "Rhythm" method but several different modern and highly scientific methods with a success rate to rival the "pill" but without the side effects. Those who practice it say not only is it effective but it builds stronger marriages! Check out the Archdiocese of Miami's MiamiFamilyLife.org website for more details. Also, online see IUseNFP.com and NFP: Catholic Style Facebook group. There are many resources online and NFP not only helps with postponing children but also helps solve infertility, frequent miscarriages, and many other gynecological problems with the help of NaPro Technology. Being prescribed the pill only masks problems but doesn't solve them. NaPro can help solve them.
